are they any good

This may sound a little far fetched but -

One day we will all probably have just one pocket sized gadget which will combine a mobile phone, organiser, internet browser, digital camera, viewer/projector and scanner.

Don't think so ? There are already devices around combining several of these functions, but they are un-likely to be particularly easy to use and will never give the ultimate quality individual devices can offer. The same scenario as the combined washing machine spin dryer.

So are they any good ?
Lets get straight to it, camera phones are not yet able to match a dedicated digital camera for quality and facilities. There is a lot of advertising for 8 megapixel camera phones around at the moment, with phone manufacturers trading the same path as camera manufacturers, using the numbers to sell their wares, and, if you take the occasional sanp, mainly outside then a mobile phone / camera may give you satisfactory results.

But the truth is Mobile Phones Do Not,  Good Cameras Make (yet) notice the little bit of Yoda there?
